Dear Attendees,
the Schizophrenia International Research Society was recently established as a worldwide organization that aims to bring together researchers in schizophrenia and related disorders in order to:
1. Exchange the latest advances in research and facilitate the appliaction of these findings to clinical practice.
2. Facilitate international communication and research collaboration.
3. Promote educational programs to effectively disseminate new research.
4. Encourage the timely and systematic publication of research.
5. Facilitate research training and the recruitment of new investigators
6. Increase the publicunderstanding of the personal, familial and societal impact of schizophrenia.
7. Support increased research funding for schizophrenia research around the world.
8 Promote the highest scientific and ethical standards in research and its application in clinical practice.
We are pleased to announce the first in a series of international conferences that will be organized along these principles. We hope that the field will benefit from the timely and open presentations and rigorous discussions.

The 3 Hour Format for the 3 Topics will be:
Each topic will consist of 2 timely major questions on that topic with speakers invited 2 for each question (known to have opposite or different views). They will deliver a paper and speak for approximately 20 minutes each, then followed by a discussant for 5 minutes and then 30 minutes of public discussion led by a moderator for a total of approximately 1 hr 15 minutes per question. Separated by one coffee break.
